Duke is a sensitive, yet sensible, middle-aged AQHA gelding with a beautiful dark bay coat. He is currently being used in our lesson program and is an easy ride! Before being purchased as a training project this past spring, he spent the last 7 years as a trail horse for an AA on the roads and in the woods. Although Duke is sensitive under saddle, he is very safe. He just takes a gentle squeeze to change gaits, and his trot and canter are small, smooth, and easy to ride. He is not spooky and is easy to handle!

Duke is currently only ridden English, though previously he was ridden western at times. He is jumping anywhere from cross-rails to 2'9 courses and working on accepting contact and reaching down into the bridle. He has done two shows locally, but he gets a little nervous (does nothing, but could make the rider nervous), so should not be shown by a very timid rider until he gets more experience. He placed 7th at his first eventing mini trial in October 2019. Duke enjoys jumping and has been used for beginner lessons. He is a fantastic horse to learn to canter jumps on, as he stays consistent in his pace and has an easy jump.

Duke is UTD on all veterinary, dental, and farrier care. He is currently barefoot, but he wears Scoot Boots when doing long trail rides or schooling cross country on hard ground. He is easy to haul, tie, tack up, stands for the vet and farrier, and has no vices. He may require light maintenance (just had his hocks done for the first time ever in November of 2019).
