Lord Lister (Lou) is a laid back five year old Paint x Percheron located in Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi. He currently stands at 15.2hh and seems to still be growing (he string tests at 16.2). He has nice bone and a large, strong hind end.

Lou was started slowly about a year and a half ago using natural horsemanship. As a result, he has responsive handling on the ground. He knows how to move away from pressure, bend, flex, drift, and use his core- he could be a great amateur dressage prospect. He loads, ties, stands for the farrier and vet, is easy to catch in the field and is barefoot with good, solid feet. He’s an incredibly easy keeper, too.

He loves to trail ride and seems like he might have an interest in working cattle occasionally. Because he is young and green, he would do best with a confident rider working with a trainer. He has had about four months of professional training and the rest of his rides have been done by me, an adult amateur. For the proper rider, he is green broke w/t/c and just needs work refining the aids. For a less experienced seat like mine, he is reliable at the walk and trot

He has more whoa than go but has a nice rocking horse canter. He’s brave on the trail, surefooted, and not spooky. He does excellent in new situations and consistently makes me proud around older, more experienced horses that get nervous and looky.

I’d prefer him to go to a home with less humidity than we have in north Mississippi as he gets very hot in the summer. Although he sweats plenty, he can breathe heavily at times when there is high heat and humidity combined.

Lou has been out of work for the past four months but older videos are available.

Lou is curious and goofy and lives for scratches on his chest and down his shoulder. He’s got an incredibly thick tail and a nice long mane and forelock. He’s currently a gorgeous dappled grey and I anticipate that he will be much lighter in the spring when his winter coat sheds out.

I am only selling Lou because I just don’t have the time to finish him out like I thought I would. His price is negotiable to an incredible home, so feel free to reach out to me.
