Copper (formerly called “Sport”) is a super special horse. He was in mounted patrol for much of his life, with a been-there-done-that-seen-that demeanor under saddle. He did parades, watched fireworks, did crowd control, and much more. He is also extremely smart, willing, and is light/responsive to your aids. I’ve never had a horse that learns as fast as him.. he’s so fun to work with! He rides smooth and soft, with a nice fancy-feeling handle. He has crossed everything I’ve put in front of him. He even loves standing on the bridge we have in the pasture, on his own. He’s super inquisitive and loves to learn new things (tricks, etc). He has no mean bone in his body, and is low man on the herd totem pole, but loves on all the other horses (has even won over my old grouchy guy!). He is an AMAZING companion. His days in police saddles gave him back issues (kissing spine) that require a less physically demanding job/lifestyle than what I could offer. In his patrol/trail job, he was ridden only at a walk and hadn’t shown signs of discomfort. Injections would be required maintenance to ensure he remains comfortable for riding. While he is limited under saddle, he can run and play in the field without trouble. He cribs as a habit from previous lifestyle, limited by a collar, and lessened when on pasture with other horses. He has the experience and demeanor to make a wonderful partner for someone who wants a sweet, fun, intelligent horse to love on, teach tricks to, do liberty, be a companion horse, and go on casual trail rides / walk around town without worry. I have not had kids on him, but he is a big dude as well as very responsive to aids, so I would recommend intermediate (or higher) riders. He's an angel for the farrier, trailer loading, the vet, etc. He’s in-your-pocket, and loves to nuzzle on you. Price reflects his maintenance and performance limitations. I love this horse and wish I had the capacity to keep him, so a good home is a MUST!
