LiterallyCaptivating LiterallyCaptivating (aka Josh) is a coming 16-year-old appendix registered with the American Quarter Horse Association. Josh is a tall grey gelding standing at 17.1hh tall. Josh is UTD on shots, wormer, teeth, and hooves. He was also chiropracted recently as well. His maintenance includes a joint supplement because of his age. Joshua has come a long way since I bought him in July of 2020. Unfortunately, for the both of us, I do not have the room in my barn for his size nor the time and love that he wants and needs due to having a coming 2-year-old colt. This giant, beautiful guy loves attention and has done very well with working again but we are still building up the muscle he lost over the last few years. Josh has such a personality and loves his forehead, neck, and chest scratched. He loves peppermints and falls asleep in crossties when he is being brushed. After a nice workout, he might even fall asleep in your arms if you talk to fellow boarders at the barn! I do have a picture of him from falling asleep with his head in my arms! Josh was put on the back burner by his previous owner for about 7 years and was given very little to no attention as well as being treated as a “show horse”. He was not let out unless it was beautiful outside with no moisture on the ground whatsoever and he was not touched unless his stall was being cleaned. As one could imagine, he developed some vices which we have been working on and are now minor issues. He has minor issues in the crossties when he is being tacked up and he does not like to load in the horse trailer unless he is being hauled with a friend. He is a little territorial over his stall only because of what he endured while stuck in a stall for 7 years – lack of love and attention. Has been shown in the past Hunt seat, showmanship, and Western Pleasure and has recently worked all of these disciplines as well as picking up dressage – and quite well might I add. He has also just recently shown an interest in jumping although he is not experienced with it. He was recently shown in a fun show by my 12-year-old sister and placed 3rd in showmanship, 2nd in English, and 5th in Open Ranch Riding. Due to COVID-19, we have not been able to go to a dressage show but we have done a virtual dressage show by my 18-year-old sister, which was the first he had shown in. In the virtual dressage show, he placed 1st In Intro Level B with a score of 66.563% and 3rd in Intro Level C with a place of 62.750. We are signed up for two more dressage shows and hopefully an in-person show will be coming soon. ***Please message or text for any questions and updated pictures. *** ***Videos available by searching “Sarah Marquardt-Gibbs” on YouTube. ***
