Santana is drop-dead gorgeous boy with a big personality and liquid brown eyes to melt your heart! He is a people-lover and a charmer, and he will follow you anywhere to “help” with whatever you’re doing. If you’re a Morgan or Foxtrotter lover, you will recognize all the wonderful traits. His gaits are smooth and he is a blast to ride. Santana's coat is a true black that turns copper in summer (if he's pastured in the sun), then turns black as night when the weather starts to cool. With his shiny coat and the large, bright white star on his forehead, Santana turns heads everywhere he goes. He has great ground manners - stands quietly for grooming, bathing, vet, and farrier. He will also stand tied all day if you ask him to (which we don’t – but we had to test him once while traveling). Gotta love those hard black feet! We have always kept him barefoot and he's always sound. And not just his feet are easy – Santana is the quintessential Easy Keeper who can stay fat on just good grass or high-quality hay combined with a handful of balancer or other feed with mineral supplements. Herd-wise, Santana is very sociable and makes friends easily. He plays well with others in every grouping we’ve put him in, including mares, geldings, young stallions, and even babies! His protective instincts with a very young foal earned him the nickname "Uncle Tanners" and he is our mini's favorite buddy. Santana is the kind of horse it's impossible not to love. He is always the first to run and greet you at the gate or whinny when you walk in the barn. Whatever you ask him to do, he is eager to please. At 14.1 hands, he's the perfect size for a smaller adult or a confident child moving up from a medium pony. He will ride out alone or with a buddy and is brave and willing on the trail. Very responsive to voice and leg cues and light on the bit, he can be ridden in a snaffle bit, bitless bridle, or even a halter. Though he's been a perfect gentleman with the occasional beginner who has walked him around, he does have a motor, so we feel he is best suited for an intermediate rider. It’s not easy to find a breathtakingly beautiful horse this versatile and personable, and we will be very sad to see him go, so an excellent home is a must! Please include in your reply some details about yourself, including level of experience, what you’re looking for in a horse, and what you can offer this fabulous boy as his forever home.
