Kashmere LRF is a 16.3 hand 2010 Belgian Warmblood mare carrying impressive Holsteiner lines of Titan, Franat, and Ladykiller XX. Incredibly athletic, “Mia” has spent most of her career in the jumper ring. While she shows plenty of scope for jumping, she proved to be a difficult amateur ride including stopping, whirling, and rearing rather than jumping. She came to my barn to begin a second career as an amateur’s dressage horse. Mia’s history in the 5 months she has been with me: She had an extensive PPE including back xrays and bloodwork. Mia was in full-training being ridden 6 days a week – 3 days with a trainer, 2 lessons with her amateur owner, and 1 pleasure day. Mia was described as being “slow to get going” and that was accurate in that she was quite content to just walk and do walk exercises for a long time. When asked to trot, she would sometimes trot right off but sometimes would be balky and respond by flipping her head, swinging her hindquarters or even stopping either before trotting off or after having trotted a few strides. Her work improved continually in terms of straightness and suppleness working on leg yields, shoulder in, renvers, travers, turn on shoulder and haunches. Some days she was completely forward thinking and gave some AMAZING uphill work. However, the balkiness continued to be an issue, especially for her amateur owner and escalated to include bucking and rearing under saddle without warning. These behaviors are unpredictable and unacceptable for her current owner. Yes, we have pursued eliminating any physical issues creating this problem. She has had 2 new saddles, professionally selected and adjusted. Several different bits and girths. Additional vet checks and lameness exams. Her shoeing has corrected the imbalances she came with and she has good feet and goes barefoot behind and probably could be barefoot in front as well. She has received dental care and monthly chiropractic and acupuncture since she arrived. This is a great mare who is happy to see me every day and greets me with a nicker. Comes running when you call her. She was originally opinionated about a few things being handled on the ground but has made nice progress on everything but clipping. She is kind and a pleasure to be around on the ground. She has great bloodlines and would be a super prospect for a broodmare. For a patient and brave rider with the time to re-establish the horse human dynamic, she would make a very interesting project to restart under saddle. SHE IS NOT BEING SOLD AS A CURRENTLY RIDEABLE HORSE. https://youtu.be/lHnDIGpfuJ8 If after reading the description, you are interested in learning more about Mia, please contact Kim Thornton at cornerstone.wellness@hotmail.com or text/call Kim at cell (214) 755-3577.
