Beamer is a cute, stout, 14hh bay roan gelding with a long, thick mane and tail and is fancy with his roan color!
Beamer has pretty much sat the last year and needs someone willing to dedicate time to getting him going again. 30-90 days and he’ll be going great again. I just don’t have the time he needs.
He was started as a cutter, is really cowy and will work the cutting flag. Beamer would really excel heeling, in the breakaway pen or as a junior rodeo mount with a confident rodeo kid. He was previously used on a ranch gathering cattle. He is good in the sorting pen, loading trucks, and in tight quarters pushing cattle up the alleys. Beamer is one hand broke, lopes around the arena, picks up both leads and moves off leg pressure. He crosses the obstacle course with ease, goes through water, over logs, and is traffic safe. Fantastic mountain/ extreme trail prospect!
He will ride in a group or out alone, has a steady walk, nice jog, great extended trot with the cutest action, lopes out good and is smooth to ride.
He loads right up in the trailer is good to bath, shoe/ trim and saddle. This is a nice ranch gelding that is well bred, well broke, and has a ton of cow sense.
Sound with nice big hard feet and lots of bone. Currently barefoot (with no problems even on gravel) but has worn shoes.
Current on worming, vaccination, trim and comes with a clean vet check and coggins from last year.
Beamer does have a few vices, he can be difficult to catch out in pasture. If you herd him into smaller quarters he’s great. He’s easy to catch in a stall or smaller paddock.
Doesn’t lunge on a line, but roundpens like a champ.
Like a true cowhorse, he can be reactive. If he’s spooked, he’ll drop spread and go sideways with his front end. He takes time to trust and can be head shy with new people.
He does best in consistent work. He enjoys it and would be happy riding the range all day.
Beamer needs someone willing to spend the time making him their best friend and giving him a consistent job.
