Willem is conformationally correct and balanced with that attractive silky black color, 15.3 hands -big boned Stallion with great structure. He is built to last a lifetime. He is very versatile and a willing partner that can go any direction. This classy guy is always gentle and aims to please is very smart and learns new things eagerly and easily. He’s very adaptive and quiet minded in new surroundings. He is gentle and easy going.
Willem picks up feet easily, stands patiently when trimmed or shod and braided, loads and unloads effortlessly, stands still when he is being saddled, and he saddles from both sides.
Willem has wonderfully comfortable gaits and transitions with a nice slow jog and good extended trot. he neck reins nicely and guides easily. He is soft in the mouth and collects with ease. He enjoys a relaxing trail ride and is excellent in all types of terrain. He is very sure footed out in the mountains and throughout the desert. He is confident to ride alone, but good in a group as well. He is not in a rush to do anything as he would just as soon go slow but has go if needed. He is not spooky and good with wildlife, dogs, cattle, loud gunfire, busy traffic, blowing tarps, bonfires, and heavy machinery.
Willem is very fond of any attention you give him and is a very loving soul. He has a lot of personality and is entertaining around the barn. He will come to the gate when he sees you and follow you around like a puppy dog.
He has been on large overnight trail rides and will lead, follow or ride anywhere in the middle. He will go through any type of water, go over bridges, and has been ridden in heavy traffic with no issues. He has three very smooth easy to ride gaits. He can be ridden in English, western or bareback. He knows his leads and will go in nice balanced canter circles in any type of arena. Willem has a loving and forgiving personality. You do not need to be an experienced rider to get onto his back, he will just take care of you, and you will come off smiling ear to ear. He will fit into any program you have and does not need to be ridden all the time to remain the same horse that he always is. he can be kept in a stall or out in a pasture and will come running when you call.
he has been hauled and ridden at large events with 100’s of horses and does fine in crowded warm up arenas with riders going all different directions and speeds.
Willem has been ranched on and has pushed cattle. He has also been ridden in the feedlot and through cattle has been exposed to lots of team roping practice sessions under the arena lights.
