Rocky is a four year old Welsh/Shetland pony standing 11;2 barefoot. He is a calm, smart pony for young riders. Born in the wild in the hills of Ukiah, Ca, Rocky was rescued from his herd at the age of two and was gelded and vaccinated. He was adopted and kept for one year to grow, be handled, gentled, and groomed & then sold (at the age of three) as a "project pony" to our 12 year old daughter. Our daughter has worked with Rocky for a year & three months. She started Rocky with groundwork & desensitizing & has taken him on several adventures. Eight months ago Rocky became saddle broke (not ever throwing one buck) & has been trained to be a riding pony. Rocky's calm demeanor has proven him a nice English pony for training rides, dressage shows, pole-flat-& jumping classes (received all blue ribbons in shows), trail & beach riding, & was even in a noisy parade last month! Rocky will make a great hunter or mini stirrup prospect or a fun ride for young riders to grow confident on. He started jumping three months ago & has learned to pick up his legs over jumps at trot & canter, switching leads over jumps, & jumping small courses. Rocky is still a green pony but is easy to train, eager to learn, & fun to work on. Rocky would be perfect for young riders who have the desire to go up the levels for hunters or learn how to ride. Five star home required & would prefer no lesson barn as he would not be comfortable with several different riders. *Rocky could possibly be a carriage prospect as well as he has pulled things from behind, is extremely smart, eager to learn, & reliable.
