Doodlebug is the cutest chunky monkey EVER! Half Warmblood, a quarter Welsh, 1/8 TB and 1/8 QH, Doodle combines the movement, temperament, and rideability of the Warmblood, with the brains of the TB and Quarter Horse, and the soundness and cheeky playfulness of the Welsh Pony. This is very similar to the recipe that the German Riding Pony breeders started with!
Doodlebug’s sire Royale was a Swedish Warmblood stallion by the famous Rubignon. Rubignon brings the R line (the saying goes “R for Rideability!”), as well as Donnerhall. This line gives you good temperament, dressage ability, as well as jumping ability. The R line, which has correct but not super elevated movement, also makes great hunters! Sire Royal competed in eventing and hunters and dressage, and has sired multiple ammy-friendly horses competing in hunters, dressage, and eventing. Royal’s sire Rubignon was an Olympic dressage horse who could also jump. His dam’s sire was Hohenstein, and granddam’s sire was Argentinus (who sired top jumpers and dressage horses). All of these bloodlines are known for great temperaments.
Doodle’s dam was half Welsh, a quarter Thoroughbred and a quarter old style Quarter Horse (not halter horse blood, but good, old-fashioned, ride-seven-days-a-week working cattle and riding fence).
Doodle has 4 white fancy feet, and an adorable white nose snip! He should finish the PERFECT lady’s size, around 15.1-15.2 (similar to the always popular oversized German Riding Pony, lol).
Doodlebug was born January 2021, making him a little over 18 months old. He is halter broke, will let you handle his feet, and jumps right into the trailer (seriously, he loves the trailer!) He has grown up on 500+ acres of hills, and as a result is surefooted and catty, with good bone and strong tendons and ligaments.
Located in far Northern California but he’s being brought to the Bay Area to make it easier for him to be seen.
Doodle would be suitable for dressage, eventing, hunters, or jumpers, and with his good brain would also shine as a trail horse, or just all-around best friend!!
