Little John is a flashy 6 year AQHA bay gelding that is a grandson of the Great Cat Ichi and comes from a powerful line of very nice using horses on the bottom side. I have rode several other horses out of this mare line and they have been some of the best I have ever rode. He has proved to be no different. He is as gentle as they come and wants to be in your pocket. I have owned him and used him on a working cattle ranch in the Texas panhandle since he was 3 years old. Little John has been my go to mount for whatever job that I need to get done. He is smooth to ride all day and has a ground covering trot. Whether it’s in the sandhills or down in the river bottom with trees and brush, he is good footed and solid. He has been on the big gathers and used for every aspect of a cow/calf ranch and yearling operation. He is a lot of fun to drag calves on and has been roped on outside. We have drug yearlings into the trailer and he pulls stout from the horn. I have never been outran on this horse and never had to let him go wide open to catch anything either. He can run and is very athletic, but if you don’t ask it of him, you would never know it. He is very laid back. He can be saddled up and walk off without any funny business, he has never offered to buck. I let a friend take him to lead a benefit trail ride on him. She had never swung a leg over him and saddled him up and led a large group of trail riders on him and he was a dream. He never waivered and helped the nervous and anxious horses settle down. He stayed in the front or in the back without any hesitation. He was a champ and good looking to boot. This thick made pretty gelding is one that doesn’t come around often. He is only 6 years old, but rides like an older gentleman. He wants to please and go with the flow. He has been rode outside his entire life and doesn’t spook at many things. He is an easy keeper and is barefoot. You can pick up his feet, he has had one set of shoes on, but is excellent footed and sound. He is a true gentleman and one that will catch everyone’s eye and you will be proud to have in your barn whether it’s in the performance arena or on the trail.
