***Price Reduction*** $6500 Bob Ross “Ross” is an 8-10 year old, 14.1 hand Leopard Appaloosa pony gelding. He is stout enough for an adult, but small enough for a child. He has wonderful ground manners, and stands for the vet and farrier, ties, cross ties, loads, bathes, lunges, stands quietly at the mounting block, and is quiet in a stall. He does well in new environments and quickly adapts to new places, different arenas, etc. He’s been good for me on the trails, and doesn’t spook at deer, loud noises, etc. I’ve done some desensitization with tarps and he doesn’t seem phased. He seems to know how to neck rein, and would look really cute in a western saddle. He came to me needing a tune up, and has progressed quite a bit since I’ve had him. I simply don’t have the time he needs to finish him out completely and work on his little quirks during the winter as I don’t have a covered arena. He is not a beginner pony and would do better in a training program, as consistent riding gives him confidence. He is solid with walk and trot, but his canter still needs some work. He has gotten a lot better in the last few months, but I think his quick canter stems from a lack of musculature to balance himself completely with a rider (his canter is balanced on the lunge line without a rider). He isn’t naughty, he just needs more time in the saddle. I put him over his first fences recently and he was a star! Didn’t balk at anything, and even trotted over some cross country fences. Once he trusts you, he is very willing to try whatever new things you point him at. However, he does have a few weird quirks that need to be mentioned. He is a bit nervous and spooky when you move your legs around on him too suddenly (i.e. putting your foot over the saddle to adjust your girth, or reaching down to adjust your stirrups), and seems more concerned about things happening on his right side. I think someone wasn’t nice to him, and he is scared he’s going to get in trouble. He also can be tricky to catch in turnout until he gets to know you. With that said, he is a gentle boy that wants to please, and I believe he will thrive in a home with his own person. He is UTD on teeth, feet, worming, and vaccines.
