Curly is a 10yr old, 15hh, 1160#, American Bashkir Curly gelding and is truly a one-of-a-kind horse. From his demeanor, to his versatility, to his breed… Horses like him are few and far in between. He has experience under both western and English tack, tons of trail experience, and has been used as an everyday mount to help oversee 1,000 head of yearling cattle. Curly is the ultimate trail companion even if you’re a new rider or have been out of the saddle for a while. He’s your steady eddy to hit the trails solo with confidence or he’ll happily travel anywhere within a group; front, back, or in the middle, it makes no difference to him! Whether part of the trail has tricky terrain or goes right through a busy town, Curly keeps a level head and handles everything willingly and with ease.
Not only has Curly traveled numerous of miles on trail ways, but he’s covered just as many miles outside putting in time on the ranch. He’s been used for fall works and has been an everyday mount to oversee over one thousand head of yearling cattle. Whether you catch him at 4 am to start your day or catch him last minute when you need to go check on a pasture, he’s up for the task at hand.
Curly was primarily ridden English in the past as well and shown at the lower levels in combined training shows. He could easily step back into the show ring and bring home a ribbon for you with ease.
He has a wonderful cadence at all gaits and is smooth to ride. He will pick up both leads straight out of a walk, listens to your seat and legs, and ride one-handed or two depending on your preference or the discipline he is doing at the time. Curly has been ridden by a wide variety of riders; both young and old as well as ones that haven’t been in the saddle in years to riders that are in the saddle every day and have all enjoyed him. He will happily carry a flag, tote around a tarp, stays calm in chaotic environments, does not shy away from bikers or runners on the trail, and has been hauled to numerous new locations and treats them all like he’s been there a hundred times. Curly has wonderful ground manners, stands for everything, and is an absolute love bug with a personality the size of Texas.
Curly is 100% sound and healthy in every way with a clean Health Exam available for viewing and x-rays as well. He will be available March 24th & 25th in Aiken, SC at the Southern Belle Classic. Online and absentee bidding will be available, and multiple previews will be streamed live for your viewing pleasure.
