"Earl" is a 14.3h, 8 year old Appaloosa / Morgan / Arabian mix gelding I started him under saddle 4 years ago and he has had lots of miles since then being a guide horse for a trail riding outfit. He is very familiar with rough terrain, river crossings, wildlife etc. He is also very good about riding out by himself. He is not barn or buddy sour. His dam was a youth rodeo horse and Earl is also very athletic. He has lots of stamina and can go all day without issues. He is well trained, carries himself nicely under saddle, responds easily to leg pressure and picks up both leads when asked. Earl is more of a high energy horse - he likes to go and doesn't tire easily but he is perfectly controllable in just a snaffle bit and can be on a loose rein most of the time. I've ridden lots of Arabians and he is more or less like and Arabian, just with the appaloosa spots on. He is also somewhat spooky and sensitive, nothing bad, just that type of horse. For example he will see a funny looking rock and might make a quick jump sideways, but that's all. He does not buck or rear. Earl is nice and easy to handle, he loads and ties well and is good about his feet. He is not aggressive but holds his own in a large herd. He is completely sound and has no bad habits. He is currently in Fort Collins and gets ridden in an arena regularly. He could be a competitive trail or endurance horse but would also be a nice prospect to be a ranch or rodeo horse.
