I have owned Velvet for 3 years. She came to me green broke, so I sent her to a trainer for 60 days of training. Since that time I have been working on getting Velvet balanced and carrying herself correctly. The last several months we have been working on developing her foxtrot. In addition to walk and foxtrot Velvet has a beautiful lope. She can be mounted and dismounted from either side. Most of our riding time is done in an arena only because I have to haul out to trail ride. Velvet does well in the arena and on the trail. Velvet has been barefoot the entire time I have had her and her feet are excellent. I rode her in the Shawnee barefoot and didn’t need to use the hoof boots I had brought along just in case. I ride Velvet year round and she is fit and ready to go. Last year I needed to give Velvet a couple months off. When I got back on her she rode out like we hadn’t missed a day. Velvet is fine with being hosed down, trailering, dogs, chickens, turkeys, low flying aircraft and is traffic safe. Velvet is a very easy keeper, she only eats hay. My only complaint with Velvet is that she is very marish. From Sept. to April she gets very testy about being groomed. I trail ride her with a red ribbon in her tail because she has threatened to kick when another horse has come up on her tail. https://youtu.be/uF_vgs7fLFY Serious inquiries only please.
