Roxy is a beautiful bay Tobiano pinto mare. She is 10 years old and 14.3hh tall. Roxy came to Cowgirl Spirit in August 2022. She was extremely well cared for & loved but was surrendered by her previous owners due to her having a dangerous bucking issue.
When she came to us August, we immediately took her to a Colt Starting Clinic with Mustang Matt. Over a 2 day period, she had many successful rides and steps taken to help re-teach her that riding does not mean bucking.
She is just now wrapping up 90 days training with our professional trainer, Worrell Horsemanship. We saw her this weekend and Roxy is now quiet, thoughtful in new situations and willing to think rather than react.
Roxy has excellent ground manners and does all the things normal horses should do. She is easy to catch, ties, stands for grooming, is great for the farrier, bathes, blankets, is quiet to tack up. She is excellent for bridling and unbridling. If she hasn't been ridden in a while, she requires some groundwork before just swinging a leg over. Once warmed up, Roxy is extremely polite, responsive and soft in the face as well as to leg pressure. She W/T/L and is in the beginning stages of leg yields, hindquarter and frontquarter yielding.
Roxy really seems to enjoy being outside of an arena environment and was very brave about new obstacles. She has zero issues going through water. Roxy would make an excellent trail horse.
Roxy is up to date on teeth floating, hoof trimming, deworming and vaccinations.
Roxy is now officially available for adoption, however, due to her past, we require that she is adopted by someone who is familiar and experienced with green, sensitive horses or by someone who is working with a trainer.
