Duchess is a beautiful bay tobiano spotted saddle horse mare. She is 4 years old and stands 15.2 hands tall. She has a great conformation and is thick and chunky built. Our best friend raised her, trained her and has had her her whole life. He owns the sire and dam of Duchess and she has spent her whole life with his family until about 4 months ago when he decided to offer her for sale. In that time we have loved riding and spending time with her. Duchess has a wonderful, sweet disposition. She has a kind eye, she is gentle, friendly and well mannered. Duchess has a completely natural, super smooth gait on four keg shoes. She has a great slow gait, and will also pick up and ride about 12 mph. She also has a nice slow canter. From a flat foot walk to a slow and faster gait, even to a canter- she is a very enjoyable ride! Duchess is also a trail horse deluxe. She has a willing attitude and will go wherever you ask her. She will easily go through deep water, mud, up and down steep hills, through ditches and over rocky rough terrain. She will ride alone or with a big group, in the front of the pack or in the back- she is content with riding wherever you put her. She does not care how many horses run off and leave her on the trail, she will continue to walk along on a comfortable loose rein. We’ve also used her to check our fences and pasture. We’ve used her to check and push our cattle. She’s been exposed to all kinds of wildlife such as deer and turkey. She is used to other animals running around the barn like the dogs, cats and goats. She is used to tarps, whips and dragging things behind her. Duchess trailers and hauls nicely. She stands for the farrier and is good with the vet. She is clean in the stall and gets along well with other horses. She is easy to catch and stands tied with patience. She does not act like some typical mares who may have an ill temper or bad attitude. You would never know she is a mare. She is level headed, calm and respectful.
