"Donut" is a 2018 AQHA gelding by one of the hottest sires out there, Once In A Blu Boon (LTE 318k+) by Peptoboonsmal. His dam was a daughter of the producing sire Caprilena, by Doc O Lena.

He is the definition of what a quarter horse should be. He has SO much shape, photos do not even do him justice. He is the stoutest standing one in the barn by far. It is easy to infer how his name stuck. He is built wide, with bone to match - just how a stock horse was once made.

This guy was started as a cowhorse, and has the handle around like one should. He rides with a bridle, without a bridle, in our indoor arena, or out on the trails. He has crossed water, goes down the road, or just rides off on a loose rein around the property when I want to do a few laps in the hayfield. He has gone through all of our desensitization tactics, and didn't blink an eye from day one. Watch the video, and you're going to fall in love like we did.

He will ride outside past the cows, and doesn't look twice at the chaos of skid steers, dogs, barn cats, UTVs, or the come and go car traffic. What you see, is what you get. No maintenance, no frills. And yes, we were told it’s time we cut back on his free choice feed.
