This is an amazing pony. He is SO smart and always so willing to please. He was sold to me, without them disclosing that he has a cataract in one eye. You cannot see it. Honestly, this does not slow him down one bit. We ride in the mountains, I have him patterned on pole bending, he has even been roped off of and he has been jumped a little. I would not consider him a beginner horse. He is pretty laid back but will wake up if needed. He calmly walks down trails over debris, through the river or wherever you point him. He is in your pocket and easy to catch in the field. He is collected at a walk and trot. We are still working on the canter and transition into the canter. Once we have a smooth transition and collected canter, his price will go up. He is close to being ready for schooling shows. He has a big, pretty, long stride. He would be such a pretty Hunter Jumper!! He side passes, moves laterally at a walk and trot easily. He will arc and counter arc at a collected trot. I have done some cowboy dressage with him. We have concentrated on lots of basics with this guy. He is really easy to trailer. You can pick up and clean all four feet. He can go barefoot. I have shoes on the front currently as it is very rocky here. Cons- I will not sell him to someone that is not going to ride him somewhat daily and keep up with his training. Also, I don't want him exclusively gamed on. He is still not a fan of flappy things. He is such a card though. He will literally grab my flag and play with it. He is not a big spook, but you need to let him check things out. He needs someone confident that he can trust. I think he was mishandled at some point. Someone new to horses would not be a great fit, without a trainer. It is best to show him and then proceed to spraying him down or whatever you are going to do. He could get jumpy if someone haphazardly makes loud noises, runs their horse by him/into him and so forth. I think he could be a wonderful lesson horse. He loves children. NO kicking. He is used to machinery, dogs, my silly barn cats, vehicles, riding near the road, crossing water and indoor riding. He is so kind and considerate, an intellectual for sure. We are working on softening. Some days he is more supple than others. He has a beautiful, natural, level headset. I put him back in a snaffle and he is giving and bending really nice. This is a super cool, little horse, that does not feel small. I'm an adult and I ride him all over the mountains. He is not heard bound. Ties and stands calm. He does best on a low sugar diet and needs some exercise. He is smart and will get bored easily. He loves to learn new things and will try every time to please you. He loves his people and really deserves a great home. I actually paid quite a bit more than I am asking for him. The folks I purchased him from were really dishonest. I have put a lot of time into this sweet boy. I just want him to have his best life!
