This beautiful 8-year-old 14.3-hand red dun is the real deal! She is quiet! She is flashy! She is comfortable! Mabel rides around super level-headed and has a ton of natural ability; she is soft in the face and rides nicely in contact; she flexes to both sides and has a nice stop. Mabel has such easy and smooth transitions from the walk up through the trot and canter and back down from canter to trot and walk! Mabel is one of the most comfortable and balanced horses we’ve ever swung our leg over; she takes both leads nicely and uses her hind end through travel like a good one should. Mabel rides around the arena confidently and could easily be a nice lesson horse for a Western or English program. She will trot over ground poles and will also jump a rail. Mabel is quiet around equipment and in heavy traffic and town life!! Out on the trail, Mabel will ride out alone or in a group and is confident enough to take the lead and trail blaze if needed. She has negotiated steep downhill grades surefooted and slow, did some mountain climbing, and even jumped up on top of a few large boulders. We’ve had her carry our flag and tarp at the w/t/c, and nothing seems to phase this mare! Mabel is very well-behaved with the vet and farrier. She stands to be groomed and in the wash rack! She drinks and eats on the road and has even been shown in some local 4-H shows!! She loads into any stall trailer and hauls quietly- she offloads at new places the same as she is at home and requires no prep to be ridden. Mabel is a good stall kept or turned out in a mixed herd. She’s an easy keeper, requires zero maintenance, and stays fat on air!
She has been one of the most willing horses we’ve had, taking on all the new challenges we’ve put her through with bravery. This horse is ready to go in any direction you’d like to take her! With a good mind, a soft personality, and a smart head on her, she’s ready for her next adventure!
