Apollo is an experienced trail horse and suitable for a confident beginner or a junior rider. He rides well alone and is happy following my other horse but also does well leading. He can be a forward horse but is easy to rate one handed. He goes well in a bit or a hackamore. He has done the Nevada Day and Sparks Christmas parades. Due to an old stifle injury I don't want him going to an endurance home (50's and 100's). He is sound enough to do 25 and 30 mile rides so can do Limited Distance AERC, NEDA rides, trail rides, trail trials and arena work. He has a big ground covering trot and is currently in very good shape. Crosses water, stands beautifully for mounting, loads and hauls well in the trailer. Camps well and takes good care of himself eating and drinking. I use a tie blocker ring or put him on the hi-tie and he does well with that. Teeth were done last month. He is well mannered and had some early training by Ray Hunt. Apollo is good at lunging on a line or free. He is by the Polish Arabian stallion IBN Basketu and out of a 16h unregistered thoroughbred mare. DOB: 5-01-09. UTD on hoofcare and worming with excellent body weight score. Easy to catch. Endurance AERC Ride History: 2013 - 1 LD ride 2014 - 1 LD ride 2015 - 3 LD rides and 2 50's 2023 - 2 LD rides (one 25 and one 30). The 25 was with a beginner rider and it was her first AERC ride. He rides out of camp at the start on a loose rein. 2022 & 2023 did the Virtual Tevis 100 miles with a friend Reason for sale: I feel that Apollo deserves a home where he would be better appreciated as I don't want to ask for more than doing 20-30 mile rides with him. He is also very big for me. He will make a nice reliable horse for an adult or younger rider for many years. I have owned Apollo for 3 years and in that time he has had zero colics. He is sensitive about being wormed or vaccinated so I give him an Equioxx when I do. He is a very uncomplicated horse. He knows his name and comes when I call him and follows me. I would like whoever is interested to come out and ride Apollo in the arena and/or the trail. I live in a busy neighborhood so he is used to construction equipment, motorcycles, livestock, a shooting range. He is great to ride out in the wind even with everybody's yard art flapping away, or dogs running up barking. He can spook but generally mild stuff and does not bolt, buck, rear or bite, also does not kick. He lets me use the air angle grinder on his nice feet. For an additional $3,000 in a separate transaction I would include his nearly new Stonewall wide tree endurance saddle, new mohair girth, new endurance pad, his set of Renegade Viper boots, his entire set of amethyst biothane tack that includes a padded S-hack, his 2 purple midweight blankets, 1 purple sheet, and his fleece sheet. Not negotiable on tack price.
