Finley was rescued in 2016 from a slaughterhouse holding facility. What caught my eye was her sweet face and throughbread/Arab appearing attributes. She was started slowly under saddle in 2017 and has had some training under a dressage instructor. It was determined that Finley's time to shine was not in the arena. The behavior that she often displayed in an arena setting is refusing to move. She will buck at a stand still when she has had enough. Finley excels on the trails. She is very brave and moves out without question. She does great with tall grass and obstacles and really seems to enjoy herself. I would say that in the arena she requires an experienced rider and on the trails an intermediate rider. She loads , clips, bathes and stands for the farrier without an issue. Her favorite place on earth is Kensington Metropark. I truly think she would be the best fit for someone who is interested in trail riding, but with consistent work she may be able to do more. She has never been ridden more than once a week and even after a month of no riding she behaves much better than expected on the trails. Her biggest vice is testing the rider at first by stopping and refusing to move while leaving the yard to head to the trail. Once this challenge has been surpassed or another horse goes ahead of her, she does great. Finley does have a history with ulcers and requires sand clear 2 times a year.
