Duke is a very well broke gelding that anyone can ride. He has the "FANCY" handle with all the bells and whistles that the pro's love. You can do breakaway (see video), calf roping, team roping (head and heel), sort pairs, doctor cattle, push cattle in trailers. He would be perfect for a kid doing Jr. High or High school rodeo. Duke will ride with or without a tie down. He rides on a loose rein with a one hand neck rein, has a good backup, and a great stop. He is very smooth at the walk, trot, and canter. He will ride with just a rope around his neck (see video). Duke has no problem carrying a flag, opening/closing gates, he will walk down streams, over fallen trees, he is used to heavy equipment and its sounds, we have a construction company next door and he is used to all the heavy equipment sounds (i.e. dump trucks, bulldozers, semi's, lawnmowers, track hoes, etc.) He has no problem walking up/down steep ditches and ravines, he will go anywhere you point him, thru thick brush, in the woods with no spook. Rides next to trucks and trailers moving and banging around, next to lawn mowers, he'd be no problem next to traffic. He will ride the same way every time you ride him. Duke stands still for the vet/farrier, while being saddled/bridled, clipped, groomed, sprayed for flies, putting on a fly mask, picking his feet, being mounted (from the ground or the mounting block), while standing tied, he loads well and hauls well. He is easy to catch, is super gentle, and has great ground manners. He is kid and dog friendly (we have 4 dogs) and gets along with all of our other horses (mares and geldings alike). Duke would be a great prospect for; ranch rodeo, ranch sorting team, team penning, goat tying, breakaway, team roping, calf roping, playdays, drill team, barrels, poles, grand entry, parades, polo, pony horse, trail riding, trail horse competitions, queens contest, 4H/FFA, or as a lesson horse to teach roping. Duke has roped out of the box and in the pasture. He would be a great all a around family horse, from trails to pleasure to roping and plays!!! He is well broke for mom and dad to enjoy, and easygoing and forgiving for the bigger kids to learn on. He will make the beginners look good. Duke has the potential to be any type of horse and can go in any direction whether it be roping, ranch work, western pleasure, or trail horse competition. Duke is a beautiful gelding standing 14.3hh with good conformation, a handsome blaze face, a kind eye, a strong thick neck, nice withers, a straight back, a wide chest, and hip. Duke is very calm and forgiving, has a good mind and learns quickly, has a great disposition, and is smart enough to learn any type of job. Duke is one of the better horses we have been blessed with. He will make anyone look good and would look good in anyone's barn. He is a beautiful sweet boy DON'T MISS OUT!!!! There are more pics/Vids on our wibsite
