Thunder is a 7-year-old Palomino POA Gelding that is too good to be a pasture ornament and is looking for a show home under a trainer or intermediate rider. He was started as a 3-year-old by a professional program and has beautiful movement and foundation training for Western Pleasure and Showmanship. Thunder is a super mover with a smooth trot, great stop, side pass, and has a medium speed spin. He is correct, sounds, ties, crossties, ground ties, hobbles, stalls, bathes, lunges, loads, is quiet in the trailer, and great for the farrier and vet. Thunder stands for mount and dismount. He does not like his ears clipped, but he is fine with his bridle path, muzzle and legs. He will stand to be braided / banded as well. He is an easy keeper with no maintenance and is currently barefoot with solid feet. He has no vices and is happy to be kept inside or out, even getting along great in a herd. Thunder does occasionally spook, is “lookie”, and has some cartilage damage in his right ear causing soreness at the poll which in turn has developed into head shyness, making him difficult to bridle/unbridle. The more he is worked, the better and more trusting he is. We overcome this when bridling by unbuckling the headstall. Thunder excels in the arena at the Walk/Trot/Lope. He picks up both leads with ease and has a great simple lead change and has been started on flying lead changes. He has a nice stop and great neck rein and can be rode without bridle/ headstall off leg/voice commands in the arena. Unfortunately, Thunder was our Covid project and has mostly sat the last two years after we have gone back to our busy lives of work and sports and is not finished. He deserves someone who will help him overcome his head shyness and develop him to his full potential. He is absolutely beautiful with correct conformation and can compete in Halter as well as Showmanship and Western Pleasure and can extend for English. He deserves more time than we are able to give.
