Diego is a gem of a horse, I am moving out of the country and selling my horses, which is why he is being sold. We are traveling from Colorado to Arizona then California so there are many places you can meet him. He is smart but uses his intelligence to excel in training and absorbs everything like a sponge. He tries his heart out. He has been extensively hauled and hops in and out of the trailer. He rides alone or in groups, leading, in the middle or back. He loves water and goes through mud no problem (see videos).
He is INCREDIBLY careful on the trail and is extremely sure footed because of it. He has been on some of the gnarliest most technical rides and done splendidly. He is SO calm one time I was riding alone on a cliff trail in deep grass and apparently we passed a moose a foot off the trail because it popped up at our flank and scared the bejesus out of me! Diego flinched but didn't move and looked at me as if to say "Well will you look at that?" I had to tell him to move! Then we proceeded to keep running into the moose going up the switchbacks!! Diego was started as a 4 year old to ensure his bones and ligiments had proper time to grow. He has been brought along in his training his whole life from ground work to old fashioned desensitizing that no one does anymore since it takes so long. He has only been on the dressage arena recently and started slowly and correctly at that. He has exceptional movement, is very well bred and is smooth to ride. He has a balanced walk, a slow jog you can sit all day, a floating effortless extended trot and a lovely canter. He can definitely go into the higher levels of dressage with his brain and movement. He is responsive and light off of your aids but also forgiving. He would also be an incredible working equitation horse and an all around family horse. He has packed beginners around (see videos) and takes care of his rider. I think in a year he would make a great kids/husband horse and a family horse where someone can compete at high levels and then throw their kids/ partner on who needs babysitting. Which is pretty remarkable for a 6 year old. Diego has a WONDERFUL mind. He is ready to find a partner to take him to the next level in dressage, western dressage or working equitation or simply have the best trail partner anyone can ask for.
