Mr Magico - 2014 Gelding sired by Hat Trick out of a Tapit mare. 16.1h Magico is a hard knocking gelding that is freshly retired after 56 starts. I have to say, I was very impressed by the condition this guy is in. His legs look pretty good for a horse who's had a career such as his and he's quite a lovely mover! Additionally he has great solid feet and stands like a champ for the farrier (seriously I dropped the rope and walked away). He is all class, loaded well, hauled home easily, unloaded and settled quiet as could be. When we first turned him out all he wanted to do was graze. I have no doubt he'll completely settle into life on the farm quickly. He's not a spooky or silly type, if something catches his eye he just stops and stares at it (literally, what is a buckskin draft horse - haven't seen one of those before!). It's hard not to love this guy, he's just a good solid egg. He ties, he stands to tack, he is great at the mounting block and he walks off on a loose rein. No prep. He doesn't seem to have a ton of flat work education but walk trot canters around quietly and does have his changes. We kept it simple and walked him over some ground poles and just let him see the world for his first ride. We did his second ride two days later and he was willing, happy to work and already starting to figure out how to use his body. We started him over fences and he took to it like a fish in water. He bravely trotted down to every single thing he was pointed at - you couldn't ask for more! We did his third ride Sept 19th and he’s really made tremendous strides. He’s already bending better, going straighter and softening in his gaits. My rider loves this horse and noted how impressed she was with how quickly he picked up new things and how easy he is. I could go on for days about this guy, Magico is as kind as they come and is going to make a great amateurs partner! He is RRP eligible.
