Brandy is a beautiful 11 year old sooty buckskin mare, AQHA registered, 14.3H, 1000 lbs., with very nice conformation. She is located in Sedalia, CO. She loves people and is curious and playful. She is gentle, but she can sometimes be pushy on the ground to try to get her way. Brandy gets along well with geldings and other mares. She’s in the middle of the herd hierarchy. Good for the farrier and vet, and stands well for grooming, blanketing and saddling. She lives outside 24/7, unless it’s stormy or extremely cold. When she is stalled, she has very neat stall manners – no chewing, cribbing or weaving. She has always been barefoot. No maintenance requirements. No bite, kick, buck or rear, but she did bolt for home once. She loads well, but tends to want to turn around and walk out of the trailer instead of backing out. Brandy has had 5 months of professional training, but I would consider her still green, so I would recommend a confident rider. She likes the trails (although she doesn’t like to go out alone), is comfortable in new places, and she’s not spooky. A spook would be a quick hop to the side. I have owned her for 5 years, but unfortunately I haven’t ridden her nearly as much as I thought I would, due to my own health concerns, so she is still unfinished. She would do best with an intermediate or advanced rider who can refine her and bring out the best in her. Brandy enjoys obstacle work. She is well desensitized to flags, tarps, bridges, logs, tires, pool noodles, balloons, plastic bags and curtains. She is quick on her feet and she has speed, so she might also be a good gymkhana or barrel horse with training, or a very nice trail horse. I’ve never ridden her around cows and no one has ever roped off her, so I don’t know about that. I’m not in a hurry to rehome her, but I do about her welfare with the new owner. UTD on teeth (floated 10/25/23), Coggins (4/12/23), fall vaccines including rabies (9/11/23), and deworming (9/11/23). Latest hoof trim 11/8/23. 100% sound, no illness or lameness ever. PPEs welcome at buyer’s expense.
