Loid Stables proudly introduces one of our favorite geldings of all time, Gunsmoke. Gunsmoke has enjoyed two years of continuous training and as two year old was trail ridden all through Tennessee and Alabama. In the past year that he’s been in our training program, we’re continually reminded of what a special horse he is with his willingness and eagerness to learn. Gunsmoke is even our first horse to lay down by voice command!
Gunsmoke is not only personable and affectionate, he has an incredible amount of training and experience under his belt.
This exceptional 3 year old gelding has been trail ridden all across Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia, by both novice and experienced riders as young as 8 years old. He’s even been trail ridden at Mammoth Cave National Park with just a halter and lead rein when his bridle was left at the barn. Gunsmoke is ready to take on the toughest of trails and water or the easiest of rides. He does well in any order of groups; leading the pack, in the middle or the back.
Gunsmoke has an incredibly smooth gait and lope. He has experience working bird dogs as well as gunfire and whips. Gunsmoke has no issue riding bareback or double if needed. He stands quietly for grooming, saddling and bathing. Gunsmoke has been ridden many times with a flag at his side and he also ground ties. He’s no stranger to highway traffic as well.
Our training facility hosts seasonal birthday parties dubbed, “The Birthday Barn,” where Gunsmoke was the main attraction. From toddlers to teenagers, Gunsmoke was led for well over 700 horse rides this year. There are often bouncy houses, balloons, loud music and lots of children playing during parties, all obstacles Gunsmoke grew accustomed to. Gunsmoke serves as a phenomenal ambassador to both children and adults who have never been around horses nor ridden one before.
Gunsmoke has been used in several therapeutic riding sessions as well as regular riding lessons for novice riders of different ages. He is well minded and can be ridden by a range of riders!
Gunsmoke will sidepass to anything you may need to mount from and will park out on command. He’s eager to please! He lays down on voice command and can be mounted while laying down as well.
