2018 16.1h (not sticked) bay OTTB looking for his new partner. He recently retired and has been enjoying down time barefoot in pasture, just eating and being a horse. I gave him a soft landing off the track to prevent a bad outcome, but he needs a long-term partner. He’s not a goofy gelding who will share an apple with you, but he does like peppermints. Pros: This special guy has *presence* and confidence. He’s a pro athlete who walks toward the scary things. He’s sensitive, smart, and wants to do his job. He stands for the vet and farrier. He sold at Keeneland for $200k and then raced on the west coast tracks until a few months ago. Cons: Track broke and pushy, aggressive on occasion. He needs a confident person who is experienced with dominant and introverted OTTBs and has a patient training style to build connection and trust. He is presently suitable for light riding with a snaffle bit. He has a chip in one knee and is a good candidate for surgery, but he should have further evaluation and a new set of x-rays on both knees and hocks. Vet has recent notes that I can share. PPE welcome at buyer’s/lessee’s expense. With surgery and retraining, he’d probably love eventing. The right fit is most important. Negotiable to great home.
