I’m putting this out to the ‘universe’ to see if it returns the perfect fit for my mare, Brooklyn. I’ve owned Brooklyn for 4 years and she’s my best friend. She is an immensely talented mare who comes from a background of trauma, so her needs and opinions must be of top priority. She is a beautiful mare who has achieved great things and has been proven to be a great lesson horse, which is what’s caused me to think that her next step may be a part-lease in-barn option. About Brooklyn: - 9 year old purebred arabian - Very sweet, smart, sensitive, talented, and beautiful mare - Region V top 5 (3rd out of 16) in hunter pleasure - Region V top 5 showmanship - Skilled at simple lead changes, showmanship, equitation patterns - Training on shoulder-in and other dressage movements - Has not yet been on a trail ride but I think she will do great after a few times hacking out She works best with someone who: - Has some experience with dressage and natural horsemanship - Has experience with Arabians / sensitive horses - Is a soft hand and has a good, balanced seat - Let’s her take her time to wrap her head around ‘scary’ things before moving forward (never gets mad) - Gives her lots of snuggles and tells her ‘good job’ Details of lease option: - In-barn lease at Dutch Hill facilities (Snohomish location) - $500/month (can be discounted if you help with the self-care chores) Includes: - 1 ride per week with me where I give tips and 1-2 ‘free rides’ per week (I will ride her on the other days) - Owner will oversee all prep for upcoming horse shows (bathing, clipping, administration of Gastroguard, planning schedule) w/support from Lessor - Hauling to horse shows if both lessee and owner are showing the mare - All food, care, vet costs, farrier, and other ongoing costs related to her care - All tack, blankets, etc → you will use my things unless agreed upon otherwise Excludes: - Hauling her off premises without explicit permission from owner - Anyone else handling and/or riding her - Any and all costs related to showing if owner is not at the same show (e.g. if we are both showing, I will pay for her gastrogard….if you are showing, it’s your responsibility)
