Boogies Moon Traveler (aka Luna) is a 15.2 hand registered Missouri Fox Trotter. She is the ideal horse for a beginner in the arena or an intermediate rider on the trail. Luna does best with a gentle hand and is most responsive to natural horsemanship methods. She is a healthy & sound soon-to-be 18 year old who is suitable for light arena and/or trail work - but, could also be a great companion horse.
Pros:
-Up to date on preventative care including vaccines, dental, etc.
-Picks up feet easily and stands well for the farrier (barefoot trims, no shoes)
-Experience loading/unloading from trailer
-Easy to lead and ties when asked
-Comfortable to ride at a walk/flat walk/running walk
-Requires minimal tack; usually ridden w/out a bit and bareback
-Gets along well with others horses in group turnout situations (once pecking order has been established)
-Alert to her environment and not shutdown, but also not one to bolt/buck
-Respects fences and keeps a relatively easy to clean stall/paddock
-No specialty hay/grain needs (currently on local hay, alfalfa pellets, and vitamin supplement)
-Previous experience at gaited shows, with obstacle courses, trail rides, and lessons
Cons:
-Requires daily turnout or pasture/paddock board due to mild arthritis
-Wears hoof boots on front feet on rocky surfaces (we will send a pair with her)
-Has been out of work for awhile and will need a tune up to get back into shape
-Doesn’t hold a canter, but will hand gallop if given enough space
