He’s been used in the feedlot, roped on outside, and handled the real stuff—sorting, shipping & dragging calves to the fire at brandings. But he’s just as happy to take it slow and steady when the job calls for a gentler touch. He adjusts to his rider & he especially loves the little ones. He’s been ridden by beginner kids & absolutely shines with them—slows it all down, stays relaxed & makes the ride easy and fun. If you’re looking for one to teach your kids the ropes, this is him.
He’s been ridden in the Colorado mountains, the wooded trails of Missouri, the hills of central Texas & the feedlots of Amarillo. He handles bridges, creeks, logs, traffic, dogs, flags—nothing fazes him. He rides out alone, leads or follows & goes wherever you point him.
Most mornings, we don’t even have to catch him the old-fashioned way. We just hop in the golf cart & he falls in line like he’s got a timecard to punch. He’s always the same—no hump, no funny business.
& if you think you need to be a hand to enjoy him, just ask our mailman. One day, I tossed him up on Simba after a 15-year break from riding. Simba stepped over logs, walked past a flapping flag, & strolled back like they’d been riding together for years. That’s just who he is—makes everyone feel like they know what they’re doing.
Simba neck reins, picks up both leads, moves off your leg, and side-passes to a gate. He’s responsive, forgiving, and rides with the kind of feel that builds confidence in anyone sitting on his back. On the ground, he’s all class. Great for the farrier, easy to saddle, bathe, load, and tie. He stands rock still to mount and greets you at the gate with a kind eye. He’s gentle with other horses and even gentler with people.
