Franklin is 10 year old chestnut Thoroughbred gelding that joined our herd in 2024. Franklin is still green to riding in an arena, as he primarily enjoyed trails, foxhunting, and field work after retiring from the track in 2021. He has a great brain and is very willing to learn the ropes, unfortunately, we do not have the time he needs to continue with his education into becoming a lesson horse. He did receive an injury to his hip on the track, resulting in atrophy of his left hindquarter muscles. He continued to race after the injury, and it does not affect him. When in work, the area fills in a bit. He has received regular massage therapy while he has been here at the Farm. He has also been barefoot, though we would recommend putting shoes on him to offer him support when in regular work. He is a goofy guy, who we enjoy having around, but he is ready for a new person to take him on adventures.
