Cruz is a 2014 Thoroughbred gelding standing at 16.2 hands high. Cruz is a great size for any rider. He is big bodied enough to carry a larger rider, but is also gentle enough for petite riders. Cruz is a trusty sort that enjoys his time both out in and out of a ring. He has a very easy going personality and is a steady guy. Cruz has spent his last two years as a staff horse for White Hall Hounds. Cruz is the type of horse that is very straightforward and has an easy-going personality. In the ring, Cruz is just plain pleasant. He will walk, trot, and canter on a loose rein or go in a frame when asked. He is easy to steer and would be an ideal teacher for someone whether you are learning your diagonals or practicing non-stirrup work and moving on to more intermediate flat work or gymnastics. He will keep his rhythm and doesn’t mind if his rider is learning how to balance - he is a patient guy that practicing riders can trust. He would be great for someone who is learning to go over their first jumps, as he is steady and maintains a rhythm. Cruz will also jump a bigger course and doesn’t bat an eye at decorative jumps, walls, planks, and more. He has a comfortable and smooth jump. In the hunt field, Cruz has been ridden by both up-and-coming and experienced staff members. He is happy to lead or follow. While hunting, he is absolutely trustworthy and doesn’t mind hounds around his legs and feet. He is good with any type of footing, whether muddy or trappy, and will happily cross water. He doesn’t mind going through thickets/heavy brush and is sure-footed. Cruz is good around traffic, bikes, and machinery. Cruz is a straightforward type that is safe and he will take care of his rider in the hunt field. Cruz has jumped coops, stone walls, timber jumps, and logs. Most notably, Cruz has an absolutely amazing canter that feels like you are floating. In the barn, Cruz is just an easy going guy. He stands in the cross ties to be tacked, is good for the farrier/vet, and loves his grooming sessions. He has a “sweet spot” right on his belly. Cruz lives out in a mixed herd and is easy to catch. He is a chill guy that gets along with all his field mates. Cruz will also stay in a stall and is neat and tidy - he likes to stay clean during the night, even if you have bathed him the night before a hunt. Cruz does crib, but it is controlled with a collar. Cruz is the type of horse that will turn heads with his beautiful coloration and presence. He truly has an easy-going personality and would be suitable to help teach a rider their basics out in the hunt field/ring or be a ride that a more experienced rider will enjoy. Cruz is ready to form a partnership with his next rider and will take care of them, from introducing a rider to their first time out walking with hounds or moving on to a staff position.
