Meet Artesia, a 2006 15.2hh Andalusian mare looking for a soft landing. Artesia is a kind, people-oriented horse who thrives on attention and connection. She’s smart, willing, and enjoys learning new things. In September 2023, she sustained a suspensory ligament injury in her left front. I have gotten mixed feed back from multiple professionals and the vet as to weather she would be capable of fully recovering from her injury. If someone wanted to put the time and money in to her rehab, it's possible she might recover. While she is currently sound at the walk with a rider, I haven’t had the time or resources to bring her back into full work. She would be ideal as a pasture companion, light walk-only riding horse, or fun groundwork partner. She has been used for beginner walk-only lessons and leadline, and I trust her enough to be safely handled by and teach my beginner students—while still offering feedback to more experienced handlers. She’s generally calm and well-mannered at home but can be a bit energetic in new environments. Additional Info: UTD on vet, dental, farrier, and recently seen by a chiropractor who said she’s looking great Easy keeper – currently on 1 flake grass hay (AM/PM), ½ flake alfalfa, and 3–4 hours of pasture turnout daily Does not do well stalled – she prefers space to move and stay mentally happy Barefoot and sound at the walk Would excel in groundwork, liberty, trick training, or with a quiet rider looking to enjoy her at the walk What She Needs: A home with someone who can either keep her as a beloved companion or invest the time for a potential light rehab journey Someone who understands her limits and appreciates her for the gentle, curious, and sensitive mare she is A rehoming fee will be asked to ensure a serious and loving home. Artesia has been a wonderful partner and deserves a soft landing where she can continue to thrive. Located in Meridian, ID Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to set up a visit.
