Leon has a gorgeous head with soft, kind eyes. Leon is an excellent all-around horse. You couldn’t ask for a better trail horse who is naturally gaited and incredibly smooth. Leon is a gentleman on the ground with a very sweet and gentle disposition, always friendly and personable. We have owned Leon for eight months now, and we are the second owners of him, as we purchased him from the family that raised him. After spending some time with Leon, he is now ready for his forever home. Everyone in our entire family has ridden and enjoyed Leon! Leon’s gait is all natural and super smooth; he stands on four-keg shoes but could easily go barefoot as his feet are hard and in great condition. He is fun to ride at any speed and easy to keep in his gait. He is soft in the mouth and rides in an easy bit. Leon has traveled a lot, both with his previous owner and with us. He has been on numerous camping trips and trail rides, during which he has ridden across a wide range of terrain. From soft and sandy to steep and rocky, he can truly handle it all. Leon has been both stalled and tied out on a picket line and does great regardless of where he is. Leon is always up for the job! Recently, we camped and ridden the trails in Alabama, where we encountered some challenging terrain. Some paths were narrow, rocky, and rugged, and at other times, they were very sticky and muddy; Leon handled all of it perfectly. He safely packed our 7-year-old daughter on the trails day after day and was patient, gentle, and confident, even when she was not. He is very sure-footed and pays attention to the trail, taking his time to navigate all the steep hills, wet areas, large logs, and any other tricky spots. We have also used Leon quite a bit around the farm. He does an excellent job riding through, checking fences and cattle, and even moving them around if need be. Leon has been exposed to a variety of wildlife, including deer, turkeys, squirrels, and rabbits. He’s even been squirrel and coon hunted off of and has led dogs. Leon has also started driving both single and double and is taking to it very well! He is entirely traffic-safe and has been ridden to and through town many times. He is also familiar with guns, tarps, and whips, as you can see in the video. Leon is clean and quiet in the stall and gets along well with other horses in the pasture. He is also very familiar with all the goats, cats, and dogs that run around loose at the barn. Leon is easy to catch, loads and hauls great, and is always patient standing in the crossties and for the farrier. He loves a good bath filled with scratches and attention. We love his easy-going nature and gentle personality.
