Cody is a gorgeous example of an American Mustang. He is originally from the mustang herds in Salt Wells, Wyoming, born in 2015 and has been off the range since 2018. His bright sorrel coat, white hind socks and thick mane and tail will grab your attention! Cody is solidly built, 15.1 hands tall, big bodied, with substantial leg bone and super strong feet. Currently barefoot and never taken a lame step. His previous owner took him to stock yard parades and on roads, and he wore shoes there. He lives outside with a shelter, catches easily, and doesn’t crib, weave or pace. Cody is mustang tough: he’s an easy keeper, and extremely sound with no known health issues. He is calm, brave, with smooth, easy to ride gaits and a good stop. His trot and canter are really comfortable, and his extended trot is very nice. We are currently working on voice commands, lead precision and responsiveness. He’s definitely a more whoa than go horse. He’d excel as a ranch horse or having a variety of jobs & experiences, as he tolerates arena riding but really enjoys trail riding. He can trail ride alone or in a group. Prior owner said they did a little pen roping on him and our ranch hand tested him with a rope recently. Cody got re-accustomed to the rope quickly, but I’ve never roped on him so he’s not a finished roping horse, but it’s another possible direction for him. The video above is current, but you can see him ridden last year at the stockyards by his prior owner (they called him “Manny”) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igPctqQ3HN0&t=1s Teeth were floated in May; his vaccines are current & his feet trimmed every 6 weeks.
