Sunny Ride "Copper" 2017 | 16.2hh | Thoroughbred Gelding Copper is a 2017 Thoroughbred gelding standing at 16.1 hands. He retired from the track in 2020 and had a strong start under saddle when we purchased him in September 2024. Since then, he has not been ridden and will require an experienced and confident handler to continue his training. Copper was originally acquired as part of a veterinary technology program, where he proved to have an excellent temperament for vet-related handling. However, his required skill level of handler on the ground exceed what our students are prepared to manage independently. He is an easy keeper and does well in a stall, ties, and trailers without issue. Due to his flat soles, he would require shoes if returning to regular riding or showing. It’s important to note that Copper has developed a tendency to nip or bite when handled by inexperienced individuals. However, this behavior is not seen with experienced handlers and is easily managed with consistent boundaries and proper handling. He has great potential for the right person who can provide him with the structure and guidance he needs.
