“Tiny” is a safe, fun, and QUIET gentle giant available in Arlington, VT. This 7 year old Percheron/QH gelding (we don’t have specific breeding info) stands just a hair under 17 hands and is very solid! He is incredibly laid back, kind, and is a joy to ride and work around. Although he is definitely beginner-friendly, he is attentive enough to be fun for a more ambitious rider as well; he can w/t/c easily in the arena and is a lighter and more balanced ride than his size might lead you to believe. His mix of size and calm temperament could make him the perfect husband horse (put to the test by our rider’s 6’2” non-riding, prosthetic leg-wearing husband), and he’s also proving himself to be a total steady-Eddie trail boss who isn’t fazed by anything we’ve thrown at him yet. Cars, dogs, bikes, big trucks, kids with tubes, rivers, bridges, other horses running around…so far he hasn’t cared about any of it. Tiny stands nicely to mount, whether from a mounting block or a leg up. He just got a set of front shoes to better deal with our gravely dirt roads, but on softer ground he was fine barefoot. He’s definitely “more whoa than go” and isn’t going anywhere fast, but he isn’t completely dead to the leg, either; he’s responsive enough to be fun. He’ll be suitable for any number of pursuits; we can see him turning into a great hunt horse, he could continue to be an awesome trail partner, or with a bit more polish he could easily do more in the arena. Tiny has excellent ground manners, knows how to lunge nicely, and is very good about his feet. He is also trained to drive, but we do not have any driving equipment to test his skills there. (Note- Tiny is wearing a pelham in some photos and video because we didn’t have a snaffle that fit him- he has since switched to a French link eggbutt snaffle).
