For sale, 13 yr old gelding, selling as "trainer's project". Handsome sooty palomino, QH, Arab, maybe some Andy but mixed. Clean legs, good feet, barefoot, lovely mover. I bought him as a "quiet, somewhat lazy" horse for dressage. Previous owner was a trainer who showed him in novice eventing (not a confident jumper but top horse in dressage phase) and a couple of dressage shows (mid-60's). I'm older and had some injuries etc so was regaining my confidence and getting back into riding shape. I rode him about 2 1/2 yrs and all was going well (getting ready to show!), until it wasn't. He started bucking when asked to canter. I think we've found and fixed why (he was out in his rt SI joint, poll, and neck, and had some ulcer issues). Did full course of vet chiro and ulcer treatment. His demeanor is MUCH improved. But my confidence isn't. He is wonderful and sound on lunge even in tiny circles, likes doing his Natural Horsemanship games, but still acts pissy when you get on. We think he needs a mental adjustment - maybe still has bad associations of pain with work in the arena. I admit to bailing when he acted up several times, so I could have taught him that works. I suspect he needs either - restarting; or many long trail rides on a long rein; or someone young to ride through a few snit fits. His buck was mild, but like I said, I'm old now. Would have laughed 20 years ago. So he's priced accordingly. Oh, he's about 15.1-2, super easy keeper. Suspect he'd make a super fancy Western Dressage horse. Happy to answer questions, would like him to have a good home, second chance, show what a nice guy he should be. After almost 50 years doing horses, I'm ready to retire the work and do some more travelling. So he needs his new home and a chance.
