Dot has been with me for a year. I rescued her from a kill pen because I couldn’t look away with the intent of just getting her healthy again to be able to live out her life in safety as a companion. She was previously an Amish buggy horse and was absolutely run into the ground. DNA testing revealed her as Walking horse, thoroughbred and Paso Fino. In May, she seemed to be trying to tell me she was ready for a purpose, so I started her under saddle. I would still consider her somewhat green to riding, but she is doing great on the trails and around our farm. She is completely sound and has this incredible smooth running walk gait. She currently is ridden 2 to 3 days a week. She goes out in a mixed herd. Currently barefoot and has great feet now that she has regular trims. Easy keeper on grass mix hay and a ration balancer. No extra maintenance. No buck, rear or bolt. She can move out and cover ground , so may not be suitable for a beginner. I would like to find her the right forever home, whether as a companion horse or for someone who does light trail riding for pleasure. I’m not a gaited horse person. She has turned into a beautiful mare, and she deserves her own person to love her. I would like to try to rehab another horse and do this again, but she needs a home first. I have X-rays from when I first got her of all four legs. Her injuries were soft tissue. She has no boney issues and is sound. Good match is a must. Contract of first refusal back to me and vet reference required.
