Meet Reno, a 5 year old, 16 hh Registered Friesian/Standardbred gelding. Reno is very well broke to both ride and drive. We’ve had him around all summer and have mostly used him as a trail horse. He is exceptionally safe and confident on any type of trail. He could use a bit more time working on his canter in the arena. He will never buck, bolt, take off, or do anything naughty whatsoever. He simply hasn’t had much experience cantering yet, so he’s a bit green in that area. For that reason, I’d say he’s best suited for someone with at least some experience. We’ve driven him into town and all over the farm, both single and in a pair. Reno could easily go in almost any direction with more time and training. He’s very smart, has absolutely no vices, loves to work, and is happy in nearly any situation you put him in. Reno is a very nice mover and could easily be developed into a really nice dressage horse. He’s 100% traffic safe, not spooky about anything, and has a smooth, easy to sit trot. He has fantastic ground manners, is easy to catch, and requires no special maintenance. The only blemish he has is a slightly thickened right rear cannon bone, it’s always been that way. During his vet exam, he flexed 100%, and it has never bothered him in any way, shape, or form. If you’re looking for a great minded horse with the potential to go in any direction, Reno is your man.
