If you’re looking for the next horse to take you to the next level with your endurance racing and this is it. Pip has bottomless energy trail savvy, and a cool guy attitude. This was my Tevis Horse until I hurt my back and my plans changed.
Pip is an interesting mix of the Icelandic calm energy and the Arabian motor. He is all cool guy in the ground, sweet and loving, but a pistol on race day. Runs up to you in the field for hugs and scratches. Such a personality! He’s a goober and loves playing with my other horses and pasture toys!
He can do walk trot rides with beginners but needs an experienced riders at speed. Pip has an ENDLESS well of power to pull from. I’ve worked on a lot with this guy. He camps, high ties, crosses bridges, water, is fine with bikes and motor cycles, he’s great with trims (needs calming meds for shoes), boots, loads with pointing, travels quietly, bathes standing still, clips, electrolytes, and more. He does everything an endurance horse should do with calm. He’s been a vet favorite at many rides due to his calm commanding energy.
He isn’t gaited per se but he has two trots. A 6-9 mile an hour and a 10-16 mph. I’ve worked on cantering a lot with him and he can hold a 10-11 mph canter for miles and miles. He’s much smoother of a ride than my other Arabian.
What’s the catch? He can sometimes be spooky (only starts, or lateral movements) when in a group in front. He almost never spooks when alone or in back—or in an arena. It’s an energy issue. He normally does it in the beginnings of rides and mellows 5-7 miles in. He also is a lot of motor and needs a kind and stern hand on race day or during speed trainings. Nothing bad just wants to go!! No rear, buck, spin ect.
Rides out alone or in groups.
Has arena experience, has jumped, has done clinics. He is a fast learner and could do a lot of disciplines with work.
He is my heart. I planned Tevis on him but with my back and his size we aren’t the fit we once were. He is a once and a life time horse. He’s young and kind and deserves a forever home that loves him for the gem he is.
Note rider is 5’7 with a 33” inseam 145 lbs.
