Meet Dapples, our 13-year-old silver dappled mare who truly lives up to her name — she’s got dapples for days and the kind of beauty that turns heads everywhere she goes. But Dapples isn’t just a pretty face. She’s steady, willing, and full of heart — the kind of horse that makes every ride a good one. Dapples was born and raised on our farm here in Central Kentucky. We still have her mom and a full sister on-site, and her two full brothers sold in the low to mid $30Ks. She comes from a proven family of solid-minded, dependable, people-loving horses. She’s been ridden by every member of our family, from our 11-year-old daughter to our 73-year-old father. The main reason we’re selling her is because our dad, who’s 73, just isn’t riding much anymore — and Dapples is too good of a horse to sit idle. She’s also the horse we trusted our oldest daughter to ride after she broke her collarbone — she’s that gentle, trustworthy, and dependable. Dapples has been ridden from Virginia all the way to Wyoming, logging miles through Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota. She’s tackled everything from gentle hills to rough mountain terrain and handled it all with stamina, confidence, and grace. She’ll ride in the front, middle, or back of the group, and she’s just as solid alone as she is with company. While Dapples isn’t the most naturally gaited horse we’ve owned, her smooth, easy lope more than makes up for it. She’s got a rocking-chair lope you can ride all day and the kind of patience, tolerance, and willingness to please that make her a joy to ride. She’s responsive, steady, and always gives you her best. She’s also comfortable in the cow pen and enjoys cutting or pushing cattle. She works well in the arena, too — neck reining, side passing, backing, and crossing obstacles with ease. She’s trained with natural horsemanship methods, giving her a solid, respectful foundation. On the ground, Dapples is gentle and easy to handle. She stands tied quietly for the farrier, for bathing, and for grooming, and she loves the attention that comes with that gorgeous mane and tail. She’s an easy keeper, loads easily into any trailer, and travels well — relaxed and confident wherever she goes. Dapples truly checks all the boxes: she’s beautiful, dependable, and kind-hearted. Whether you’re trail riding, working cattle, or just want a safe, steady partner, she’ll give you her all. If Dapples sounds like the one for you, we’d love to have you visit our farm in Central Kentucky to meet her in person. Horses like her don’t come around often — she’s one you’ll be proud to own and love to ride. ** Consigned to www.MyHorseConnection.com *
