Foster is a 12 year old, 16.1 hand thoroughbred gelding. He is currently in a lesson and camp program where he caters to riders as young as 6 years old as well as intermediate and advanced riders. On the ground Foster is a polite guy that is all about cookies and love. He gets a little crabby during grooming and tacking and has fully vetted out, it’s simply behavioral. He bathes, clips, self loads and unloads and is easy to manage in new places. Foster is up to date on everything and goes happily in a set of steel shoes. He is lower on the pecking order in a field of geldings, I have not tried him with mares. Under saddle Foster is all business. He is very intuitive and will slow down for his little riders and do everything he’s asked from steering, ground poles and trotting. He takes excellent care of them. With a more advanced rider he thrives. He has a beautiful and long hunter trot that is so much fun to ride! He enjoys jumping the lower levels and appreciates a soft hand and a confident seat. He has an excellent eye for his own distances and will recover any mistakes made by his rider, in turn he teaches them to find a distance. He has great “buttons” and can step it up when asked. His one vice is that he is a cribber. It’s easily managed with a collar. His vice is easily overlooked by how wonderful he is and how much he cares for his riders. He lives out in pasture without issue and doesn’t mind being in a stall. Currently he’s out about 18 hours a day, during the summer he’s out full time and during winter he’s stalled more.
