Although a relatively new registered breed, the Gypsy Vanner horse has rocketed to popularity due to its romantically dramatic looks, its dependable nature, its training talents, all the while being an easy-keeper. Saint embodies all these exceptional traits. A product of the most elegant, accomplished and exciting line of Super-Star Gypsy horses, Saint’s sire, St Clarins Gypsy, is World Champion and Breed Ambassador and Saint’s Grand-sire is the renowned breed foundation sire, The Business, aka ‘The Boss’. Saint follows in their line with outstanding looks, temperament, talents and championships. In his first year of competition, as a three-year-old, Saint won Regional Champion in Trail Trials – a challenging sport that tests horse and rider in all the many technical tasks and talents necessary for trail riding, ranch work, horse camping and search and rescue. Trail trial training produces a confident, well-rounded mount in the arena as well as out on the challenging trails and busy roads of today’s riding grounds. On A Lark Farm specializes in training for safety, confidence, cooperation, competence and calm, competitive spirit. Ours are lifetime family horses who ride out and compete safely, sanely and successfully, Beautiful inside and out, Saint’s size, loving nature and sweet attitude allow for any rider to enjoy him safely and for advance riders to appreciate, making him a perfect family horse. Trained with love, language and leadership, Saint goes Western or English, carries the bit quietly, also rides bitless and in just a halter, he loves to jump and is in training to drive ! What Saint does: stands quietly for farrier and vet, sets himself up for mounting, self-loads in and out of trailers, negotiates water obstacles, turns on the forehand and haunches, side-passes, works all sorts of gates, is comfortable at walk, trot and canter, loves to jump, is confident on trails, leads, does half-pass, follows and goes out alone equally happy, performs at shows and in public with no drama, accepts all sorts of ‘scary’ obstacles – dragging bags of cans, carrying flags, treading the teeter-totter, turning on forehand on a tire, turning on haunches on platforms, backs into stall, loves people and comes off his feed to greet you, etc. He is light and willing and responds well off breath alone. Saint does a lot of things at liberty – i.e. ground ties, backs freely out of round pen, sets up at mounting block, free jumps, and circles at liberty, yet comes willingly when beckoned. What Saint doesn’t do: kick, bite, strike, crib, bolt, rear, wind-suck, paw, weave - he’s a happy, healthy horse in body, mind and spirit! He’s what we call “An Insurance Horse” since he’s so safe, confident, calm and cooperative in all that’s asked of him. Saint’s star quality shows in his legendary breeding, great training, stunning beauty, exceptional temperament, versatile talents and consistent competitive success. Make him your own Saint! :)
