Pros: Bumper is "Mr. Personality". He likes people and is easy to catch. He has good ground manners and is a quick learner. Saddles, picks up his feet for trimming/shoeing (not perfectly, but no kick), leads, loads and backs out of the trailer. Stands for mounting, both on the ground and with a mounting block, rock, etc. Backs. Crosses water and bridges. Goes out alone and with other horses. Is not herd bound or barn sour. Sure footed on the trail; no stumbling or tripping. Good feet and legs. He is presently barefoot, and uses boots, but has been shod. Responsive to leg cues and can be neck reined or direct reined. I use a Dr. Cook Bitless bridle, and he also can be put in a snaffle. I put hobbles on him and he handled them with no issue. No problem with a britchen on the hills. Has a fast walk, and nice trot, and some gait. I have not cantered him because I was working with him on developing his gait (a saddle rack). The person I bought him from said that he has a nice canter. Went to Bryce Canyon in May of 2025 for a week and handled the challenges of Picabo Trail in the National Park very well (switchbacks, tunnels, etc.). He also did well the other days on other technical trails. Responds best with a calm, gentle, confident, and competent rider. Cons: Bumper is still green broke and can be reactive. Sometimes when he spooks, he simply does the "splits" or jumps sideways. Other times he will progress into a buck. I cannot ride a buck, so am offering him for sale. Price is negotiable to the right buyer.
