Marmalade is the sweetest, safest kids’ pony packer and the ultimate babysitter for everything from a child’s first ride to stepping into the show ring. Although only 7 years old, “Marmie” has the brain and demeanor of a seasoned campaigner.
He has successfully shown in the 2’ Hunters, 2’ Equitation, and Training Level Dressage with riders 12 and under. At his most recent jumper show, he walked straight from his stall into the warm-up with zero prep—no lunging, schooling, or calming supplements needed. He is truly that easy.
Marmalade is incredibly forgiving, takes a joke, and will happily help his rider out from an imperfect distance. No stop, bolt, buck, or rear. He has been used in beginner lessons with riders as young as 7, including children who had never sat on a horse before, and is equally happy doing lead-line pony rides with little ones.
At home, Marmie schools up to 2’6” and enjoys trail riding both alone and in groups. He also has an extensive dressage education, schooling movements through Second Level, including shoulder-in, haunches-in, and half-pass, and is beginning to develop automatic lead changes.
Beyond the ring, Marmalade has done obstacle courses, bridleless and bareback riding, Starbucks drive-thrus, trail rides, and just about every other adventure we can come up with. He is exceptionally brave and desensitized in new environments. He is safe enough for kids to groom, handle, and love on themselves.
Marmie is barefoot, excellent for his feet, and his WPCAC papers are currently in progress with excellent lineage.
His only two “vices”? He will eat just about anything, and he can be a little lazy when it’s hot—which is why he is often clipped.
Marmalade’s favorite job is being spoiled by kids, and he is ready for a child of his own to learn with, have fun with, and bring home plenty of blues.
