I am putting out feelers for a new home for my gelding Mustang, Rango. He is out of Durango, Colorado – and is appro 13 years old, stands just shy of 15HH. Rango is a barn favorite and has a great personality. He loves to roll, is very gentle with young kids at the barn, and has been known to play in his water trough. As a mustang, he goes barefoot just fine, is UTD on vaccines and just got his teeth floated last month. He is great for the vet. I got Rango in September of 2018, he spent the first 2 years of his life in the wild and then was captured in Durango, CO. After 4 years in the holding pens he was rescued by a former Parelli trainer in Wisconsin and had one month of training put on him. He goes English or western, spent 60 days in training during fall of 2023 which greatly improved his confidence under saddle. He is very solid in groundwork and liberty training, we spent most of covid doing liberty clinics. He is on 1 tab of Equioxx 57mg tab for his left hind hock. I have the x-rays, he has some arthritis. I am looking to find him a more confident rider that has the time to dedicate to him or someone who is looking for a pasture pet. He could truly go either way. He’s used to daily turnout in pasture and being stalled at night. He does well under saddle, but will spook from time to time. He’s very aware of things that have moved in or outside the arena. He would do well with an experienced or confident rider who can be consistent with him. I will be very picky about where he goes, this was an extremely difficult decision for me to make and I want to be sure he ends up with someone who will appreciate him.
