True 14.2h mare, Skipper W lines, smart and sensitive project / broodmare prospect Putting my mare up for sale, and honestly, if I didn’t have bills to pay, she would be staying with me. I have lots of pictures and some videos I'm willing to share if asked. She is a true 14.2h mare with Skipper W lines. She is not broke, but she has been handled. She lunges, saddles, and takes a bridle. She will put her head up for the bridle, but if she figures out she’s not going anywhere, she’ll usually give in and take it. That’s a pretty fair snapshot of her personality. She is not bad, not crazy, and not mean. She is smart, sensitive, and absolutely aware of when there’s an easier option on the table. If you leave her an out, she’ll take it. If you’re clear and consistent, she settles in and does fine. She wants connection, but she is slow to warm up and cautious at first. She wants a person of her own, but she is not one that gives herself away immediately. She has consistently done better with women than men and seems to settle with them faster. She has a lot of personality and a lot of tolerance for mine. I’m 4'9", so I tie her at the pole and drag over a step ladder so I can get high enough to bridle her, and she mostly just stands there like, “Really?” I’ve also put a saddle pad up by her poll and gotten the same look. She puts up with my nonsense better than she probably should. She is quick-footed and quick-minded. She learns fast, notices everything, and can be a little watchy, but she’s not wild. I have sat on her and been led around on her. If she spooks, it’s not broncy, dirty, or dramatic...she’s just fast about it. You want to be aware of that. On the ground, she is generally easy to be around. She will follow you and usually does not crowd, whether you’re moving with purpose or doing a grandpa walk. Once she decides she likes you, she wants to hang out and be near you. She has had a bad experience with a farrier in the past, so that can make her nervous about her feet, but if the farrier is patient, slow, and gentle, she works through it. She would be a good fit for an experienced horse person familiar with young, sensitive horses, or a handy older kid with a trainer looking for a project. She is also a nice broodmare prospect for someone looking at that route, as she is bred respectably and solidly built. Aside from her breeder, there was one owner before me. Through no fault of hers, that home only did basic groundwork and lunging, and then life happened and she mostly sat. That is why she is such a blank slate. She has not been run through a bunch of hands or overdone. It also means her body hasn't been worn down by early starting. She just needs someone to take her on from here with consistency. She is a nice mare with a lot to like. I just can’t justify keeping her right now when life is life, and that’s the only reason she’s being offered. Serious inquiries only. G
